Rules

Please note: There is a limit of four (4) entries per person in this competition.

This competition is sanctioned by the BJCP/AHA and open to any amateur homebrewer who resides in Colorado and is 21 years old or older. Entries from non-Colorado brewers will be judged. However, they will not be eligible for any medals or awards.

All entries must be received at the shipping/drop off location by the entry deadline.

All entries must be homemade products, using ingredients available to the general public, and made with private equipment by home brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or brew-on-premises operations, supplies, etc.).

The competition organizers are not responsible for misclassified entries, entries not received by the entry deadline, or entries that arrive damaged.

The competition organizers reserve the right to combine styles for judging and to restructure awards as needed based on the quantity and quality of entries. Entries will be reviewed prior to check-in to ensure appropriate classification according to the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines. If an entry is deemed misclassified, it will be reassigned based on information provided by the entrant. If reassignment results in a brewer having multiple entries in a subcategory limited to one entry per entrant, the reclassified beer will be disqualified.

Qualified judging of all entries is the primary goal of our event. Judges will evaluate and score each entry. The average of the scores will rank each entry in its category. There will be at least one BJCP judge in each flight.

Brewers are not limited to one entry in each category but may only enter each subcategory once.

Categories may be combined based on the number of entries at the discretion of the competition committee. Every effort will be made to combine similar styles. All brews in combined categories will be judged in the style in which they were originally entered.

Best of Show

The Best of Show judging will be determined by a qualified panel based on a second judging of first place medal winners. One or more Dry Dock Brewing Company representatives may choose the entry they will brew for their Great American Beer Festival Pro-Am entry from the BOS panel of beers; however, they do reserve the right to choose from any of the medal-winning beers in the competition upon request.

Awards

One medal-winning beer entry will be brewed by Dry Dock Brewing Company to be the brewery's entry into the 2025 Great American Beer Festival Pro-Am competition. It will be served at the tap room prior to GABF.

The awards ceremony will take place once judging is completed. Places will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each medal group. The 1st place entry in each medal group will advance to the Best of Show (BOS) round with a single, overall Best of Show selected for beer. Best of Show mead and cider may be combined depending upon the number of entries received for each.

Additional prizes may be awarded to those winners present at the awards ceremony at the discretion of the competition organizers. For those unable to attend the Awards Ceremony, medals and other awards will be available for pick up at the Brew Hut a few days after the ceremony concludes.
